Quoting from Daniel Chapter 9, a pagan Messiah will sign a peace treaty with Israel after he conqured her during war time and the peace treaty will last for Seven years.

But according to Daniel Chapter 9, in the middle of the Seven years, he will break the peace treaty and proclaim to be God and to be worshipped by the Jews and they will resit him in severe blood shed and the temple and Jesusalem shall be destroyed.
This prophecy was fulfilled in AD 70 during the reign of the Roman Emperor after the departure of Jesus Christ who also made mention about the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place as written by Prophet Daniel. (Matthew 24: 15.)
Based on the customs and tradition of ancient Rome, their Emperors were worshipped as God and their images were placed in every homes and public places. So an image of Emperor Gaius was errected in Jerusalem's temple to be worshipped as God but the Jews revolted which also resulted in destruction of Jerusalem and temple remaining the Western Wall in Israel as was prophesied by Prophet Daniel.
