The flood was regional not a global disaster based on the following analysis:
THE HIGHT OF THE FLOOD
According to Genesis, the flood covered all the mountains and hills but we have evidence of people living in tall trees for fear of any flood disaster like those in Indonesia and other parts of the world and not for the fear of wild animals that live around them that could easily climb up from the ladder to attack them.
Evidently, their ancestors had experienced regional flood so they live on tall trees like them to safeguard against another regional flood.
More evidently, the Red Indians of America have their history of their regional flood so their ancestors lived on tall trees like those in Indonesia and other parts of the world.
Based on this evidence, Noah's flood did not climb mountains top like Mount Everest and submerged it since people survived regional flood living on tall trees and not up to the height of mountain tops to cover the whole world contrary to Genesis account.
Chinese flood history States that a man took his family in a boat and then lived in the hight of the mountain and survived. So the flood did not submerge the mountain top.
In Genesis God told Noah to bring in male and female animals both clean and unclean into the Ark. In which case the Ark could have been far larger in size than the size mentioned in Genesis to accommodate all the animals of the whole world and some have to cross Ocean of several million of miles to reach the Middle East to on board the Ark and from the land from several parts of the world within a short time frame before the flood begin as detailed in the book of Genesis.
Evidently, according to Genesis chapter 7, the deadline for all the animals to on board the ark is just seven days. So it was a regional flood and only those animals within the immediate region can meet up the deadline and not animals from other continents like Australia living in the middle of the ocean.
THE SIZE OF THE FLOOD
According to online article published in 2007, Isreali scientific Research Team of Noah's flood from the University of TelAviv confirmed that the regional flood of Noah covered an area upto to Four times the size of Israel and not global. Several Fisher men used boats to save some animals just as Noah did.
This research proved that Noah and his family were not the only family that survived the flood to repopulate the whole world contrary to Genesis report. Several families in the Middle East were equally saved including Cain descendants as well who later repopulated those regions and spread to other regions by immigration.
Evidently, giants were still present even after the flood of Noah; the dragon and serpent that walked on four legs like big lizards cursed to creep on the ground in connection with Adam and Eve in the Garden are still on earth with us today because it was only that Dragon that was cursed and not also Adam and Eve descendants who climbed higher hills and mountains for their survival.
The report of the twelve spies of the land of Canaan sent by Moses confirmed that they saw those giants and they were to them as grasshopper in height.
David killed Goliath and one from the giant family would have killed David in the battlefield if not the quick intervention of one of David's army that killed the giant and from that day they stopped David from going to war with them because he was growing older so his hands were getting weaker in handling sword in battle.
Till today we still have giants living in remote regions in different parts of the world based on online reports.
The account of the flood in Genesis shows that historical records in the bible and prophecies should be compared to the reality on ground and not depending on what is written in the bible which are subject to human and prophetic errors.
By prophetic errors I mean prophecies that do not correspond to the reality on ground including historical errors. This has to be interpreted properly to agree with the reality on ground based on in-depth research and analysis and not based on theological perspective alone as to balance the scriptures and not to be read as myth.
